5.1. World Almond Exports and Imports

As well as being the top producing country, the USA is also the leading almond exporter, averaging 69% of the world share for the 2018-2022 period, followed by Spain and Australia (Table 1).

In contrast, importing countries are widely distributed all around the world; India, Spain, Germany, China and Italy imported between 5% and 12% of the world share each (Table 1).

Some major producers, like Spain, although exporting most of their produce, are also big importers in order to meet their domestic demand.
