8.2. World Peanut Consumption

Global peanut estimated consumption reached ca. 42 million MT in 2019. Following the rising trend observed in the previous 10 years, it was 35% above 2009 (Figure 31).

With 73% of the world share, Asia led peanut consumption, on average, between 2015 and 2019 (Figure 32), China and India being the top consumers.

The second top consumer was Africa (15%), mainly Nigeria (Figure 32). These three countries are also among the top peanut producers, meaning that an important percentage of their produce is consumed domestically.
